Some people called Esterillos Oeste one of the best kept secrets in Costa Rica.
This town of Esterillos Oeste which is located about 15 minutes from Jaco Beach, started as a fishing village many years ago. Today it is one of the lovliest places on the Pacific Coast to come for a visit, especially if you love to Surf.
The town has accommodations for all budgets, as well as small local restaurants, surf instructors, bars and everything you need to spend some fun time.
The Esterillos West Beach is beautiful and diverse. To the east there are a number of tidal pools (caletas) where you can look for shells and small tropical fish. To the west there lies an expanse of sand and blue ocean - just as wonderful for walking and Exploring. The bronze statue of La Sirena (The Mermaid) stands guard over the bay and watches over the fishing boats that motor by. She is a famous landmark and is a must for a photograph!
